BERTAHANNYA PEDAGANG BUNGA ZIARAH DI TENGAH HIMPITAN EKONOMI DI TPU KRISTEN PANAIKANG KOTA MAKASSAR

Abstract

This study aims to determine and describe the economic conditions of pilgrimage flower traders at Panaikang Christian Cemetery and what strategies are used to survive by pilgrimage flower traders at Panaikang Christian Cemetery, Makassar City. This type of research used descriptive qualitative research with a case study approach and the determination of the number of informants consisted of 9 informants selected by purposive sampling technique with informant criteria namely pilgrimage flower traders at Panaikang Christian Cemetery. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique used by the researcher went through three stages of work, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Data validation techniques used were source triangulation and method triangulation. The results showed that 1) The economic condition of the pilgrimage flower traders at the Panaikang Christian TPU in Makassar City was low due to the income and the uncertain number of pilgrims each day, 2) The survival strategy used by pilgrimage flower traders at the Panaikang Christian TPU in Makassar City was to sell goods others, income from other working family members, reducing family expenses and capital, borrowing money from friends and cooperatives.
